Journal Article A Basis for the Comparison of Religions: Christianity and Buddhism Get access ALFRED BLOOM ALFRED BLOOM * ALFRED BLOOM holds the degrees of B.Th. from Eastern Baptist Seminary in Philadelphia and B.D. and S.T.M. from Andover Newton Theological School. He is at present completing work leading to the degree of Ph.D. in the areas of History and Philosophy of Religion at Harvard Divinity School. He is a Fellow of the National Council on Religion in Higher Education. The editors have decided to publish this paper, not because they agree with the author at all points, but because it is one man's attempt to make a thoughtful comparison between Buddhism and Christianity in a period when the great religions of the world are being brought ever closer together. Brief, pertinent comment from readers is invited.
