RUBENSTEIN is Director of the B'nai B'rith Hilled Foundation and University Chaplain to Jewish Students at the University of Pittsburgh, where he also serves as a Lecturer in French Literature. He was ordained a rabbi and received the M.H.L. (Master of Hebrew Literature) at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He received the degrees of S. T.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard University. He also serves as an Associate Editor of The Reconstructionist and a member of the Editorial Board of Constructive Judaism. This paper was originally delivered in German at the Fifteenth Annual Conference on Church and Judaism sponsored by the German Evangelical Church at Recklinghausen, Germany, the week of February 25, 1963.
