The aim of this article is to trace the participation of the Guarani missionaries in a map produced in the Jesuit Reductions on the Eastern Band of the Uruguay River, in the 18th century. This is the Terrarum S. Michaelis Oppidi Americae Meridionalis..., attributed to the Jesuit priest Tadeu Henis. To this end, it presents the cartographic training that the Guarani missionaries received from the Jesuits and the roles they played in the demarcation of this territory after the Treaty of Madrid (1750), which reveal the geographical knowledge they possessed and their ability to produce maps. It then discusses the very concept of cartographic authorship, with the aim of understanding the role of Father Henis and the Guarani missionaries in its production process. By analyzing material aspects of the map, especially the various handwritings present, the article points to the participation of the Guarani, which is revealed in the representation of the territory according to their notions of space and in the use of Guarani toponymy in order to recall their ancestral rights over the territory, which proves their participation as its creators
