This paper addresses the presence of China and its companies in the lithium industry in Argentina between 2018 and 2023. First, a characterization of the Sino-Argentine relationship is carried out. Then, the current regulations regarding lithium are analyzed, as well as the public policies used by the local governments of Mauricio Macri and Alberto Fernández, the Chinese companies and their projects, their insertion modalities and the importance of the political actors involved. As sources, we turn to official documents from the countries and local governments involved, specialized literature, press releases and information from the companies. The triangulation of the information shows a strong penetration of the eastern power in the Argentine market and carries out an unprecedented systematization of the existing cases. Finally, it is concluded that the Argentine situation and model facilitates the arrival of Chinese capital that acts without major contributions in technology transfer
