The Makran coast of West Pakistan can be divided into three broad geomorphic types: rocky cliffs, wide sandy beaches, and low flat delta plains. Very active tectonic movements are presently taking place and are likely to continue into the future. All large scale epeirogenic movements indicate emergence. Archaeological investigations suggest that coastal extension in places has been on the order of twenty to thirty miles in the last 3,000 to 5,000 years
