At the beginning of the 1990s, Sweden found herself in an economic crisis that led to a worsening of living conditions and increases in the level of inequality between different social groups. The object of this article is to describe the levels of victimization that have been experienced by a number of different social groups. The central focus is directed at the way victimization is linked to other forms of welfare problem. The analysis focuses on the period 1988-99, examining both differences in levels of problems experienced, and trends over time, among groups whose level of well-being and financial situation have developed in different directions.
