L'A. etudie la tendance de l'esprit humain a manipuler ses propres pensees; phenomene qu'E. Mach et E. Husserl ont decouvert au debut du siecle et qu'ils designent respectivement par les termes d'experience de pensee et variation de pensees. L'A. montre qu'en ce qui concerne ces experimentations, les approches naturaliste et rationaliste de l'explication scientifique ne doivent pas etre considerees comme mutuellement exclusives
