This work studies the relationship between the editorial process and poetry in the mid-sixteenth century, paticularly the individual cancioneros brought out between 1543 and 1569. As the editio princeps has been identifiedfor the first time, the entire editorial process ofMontemayor's poetry can be traced. Finally, this ensay provides some useful element for the study ofthe "author function" in spanish literature at that time
