In this study a survey is made of the historiographie research that has been carried out or is still in process in Extremadura on the subject of the book and the reading public during the Modem Age. A synthesis of the results of the studies made is also offered, which can be but provisional, due to the scarcity and the obvious lack of spatial-temporal connection of the material available on this subject
