Les As. proposent un certain nombre de donnees sociolinguistiques et dialectologiques concernant l'emploi du participe passe au lieu du participe present apres le verbe need en anglais americain (ex: Does my hair need combed ?). Ils font ainsi le point sur la repartition geographique des attestations de la construction need + part. passe et sur les locuteurs de l'anglais americain standard qui l'utilisent, ou du moins qui l'acceptent comme standard. Ils suggerent ensuite certaines evolutions possibles de cette construction
