This checklist is designed to let those interested in the study of Australian literature know what work is currently being undertaken. Previous lists appeared in December 1965 (II, 2), October 1967 (III, 2), October 1969 (IV, 2), October 1971 (V, 2), October 1973 (VI, 2), October 1975 (VII. 2). October 1977 (VIII, 2), and future ones will appear at two-yearly intervals. Projects previously recorded are not included in the present list, except when they have been substantially changed or completed. Forthcoming journal articles are not normally listed unless they involve substantial research. The list has been compiled from information received from Australian universities and three researchers from abroad, and docs not claim to be complete. It is hoped that in future more information will be supplied voluntarily from overseas as well as Australia
