Elizabeth Perkins away peacefully at the Wesley Park Haven Hospital in Townsville on 17 February 2004. She suffered from arthritis and bronchitis, complaints that she bore for many years with determination and good humour. Her loss is deeply felt by her sisters Dorothy and Florence Perkins, by students, friends and colleagues at James Cook University and by literary, theatrical, and teaching communities in Queensland and across Australia
