L'A. etudie les comptines et les rondes d'enfants de la region cotiere atlantique costaricaine et montre que celles-ci proviennent principalement de la tradition jamaicaine. L'A. emet l'hypothese que trois facteurs principaux ont pu contribuer a la conservation des traditions orales anglophones a Limon : 1. l'isolement geographique, 2. la cohesion de la population afro-caraibe et son sentiment profond de superiorite culturelle a l'egard des hispaniques pauvres et 3. le fait que cette population soit la cible d'une discrimination raciale de la part de la majorite
