Rater Reliability of the Oral Interview Speaking Test

This paper reports results of a study which examined inter‐ and intra‐rater reliability of the Oral Interview test. Oral interviews were administered to one hundred six students of Hebrew at the University of Minnesota; the taped interviews were then graded independently by three trained raters. The results suggest that communicative tests such as the Oral Interview can be used reliably by decision‐makers in spite of their subjective nature
