Une grande partie des pays d'Afrique orientale, dont le Mali et le Kenya, souffre d'une perte de leur heritage culturel due a un developpement commercial et prive, a des relocalisations, a des explorations multinationales et a des exploitations locales qui entrainent la disparition des sites malgre l'existence de lois de protection au niveau national et international. Les professionnels des musees se doivent aussi d'appliquer un comportement ethique
