Marriage roles may be understood in terms of five functions: solidarity, sexuality, external relations, internal instrumentality and division of responsibility. Disturbed marriage roles may result in disturbed parent-child relations within the same function. Many cases of child disorder, then, may be corrected by treating the role function of the parents' marriage
