The first national program of inpatient and out-of-hospital mental health benefits negotiated through labor-management agreements will go into operation in the fall of 1966. It offers new opportunities to demonstrate how through prepayment all the major modalities of therapy may be offered to large numbers of people. Through program design it is hoped to encourage early diagnosis and treatment, and to develop new patterns of service and furtherance of psychiatric research
