A count was made of articles published from 1968 through 1981 which dealt with hyperactivity and its pharmacological management. Although interest in hyperactivity, as reflected in the number of publications, continues to rise, interest in the syndrome's pharmacological management has decreased. It is suggested that this alteration in research interests may reflect a recent change in the standard descriptive terminology for this diagnosis
