This follow-up study of an innovative aftercare program compares a group of former patients who participated with a control group; explores the effects of family structure and sex on post-hospital adjustment; and evaluates the relationship of family structure to treatment outcome. Results replicate previous findings that have shown an association between family structure and post-hospital adjustment. Findings confirm the importance of family variables in analyzing program effectiveness, as well as in program planning
