One hundred fifteen outpatient clinic physicians were interviewed concerning their views of patients and clinic practice. They were asked about: 1. the nature of problem patients; 2. approaches to the treatment of problem patients; 3. grounds for dismissing patients; 4. receptivity to clinic innovations; and 5. sources of satisfaction in clinic practice. The main analysis focused on the relationship of physician orientation towards clinic patients and of physician behavior and orientation towards clinic practice
