A retrospective study on the prevalence of BP measurement in a general practice was carried out on patients aged 40 or more resident for a year or more during the nine-year period I953-I962 in an immigrant housing estate in a Jerusalem suburb. It was found that European immigrants, generally, had a greater likelihood of having their BP recorded in any year than those from North Africa and Asia. These differences were statistically significant for males. This finding was independent of the rate of visiting the doctor, BP level, and the presence of hypertension in the previous year. The factors determining the measurement of BP in general practice are discussed
