Revolutionary unrest south of the U.S. border has laid the groundwork for a political-religious dialogue on the left. The July-August 1984 Monthly Review offers a hopeful sign that open-minded socialists are preparing themselves for a critical exchange of views. The religious radicals themselves, long on the receiving end of Marxist ideas, have made clear their eagerness to respond. Local practice frames the discussion: Christians and Marxists, working together on issues ranging from domestic poverty to Central America to nuclear weapons, find more in common than they previously imagined. This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website
