Jerry Kloby's article distills from recent governmental studies the most important basic facts about the distribution if income and wealth in the U.S. in the 1980s, and changes therein that have taken place in the preceding two decades. The data are presented in the clearest and simplest form that the author, working together with the editors, could devise. Our purpose has been twofold: to give activists the material they need in their educational and programmatic work; and to set the stage for analysis and discussion if the implications if these findings in future issues if MR. Please study these figures carefully and keep them in mind for future reference. - The Editors. This article can also be found at the Monthly Review website, where most recent articles are published in full.Click here to purchase a PDF version of this article at the Monthly Review website
