Twenty-five years ago, on February 1, 1960, four black male students at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical College went into the F.W. Woolworth store in downtown Greensboro, N.C., and sat down at the lunchcounter to wait for service. There was no service that day, and next day they returned with a few friends. A day later they were joined by women from (black, Methodist) Bennett College.
