The known occurrences of artifacts assigned to the Middle Holocene Calf Creek horizon in northwestern Oklahoma are reported. Despite intensive archaeological survey and the active recording of private collections within the region, Calf Creek artifacts are vanishingly rare between the Caprock Escarpment at the eastern edge of the Southern High Plains in the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles and the Redbed Plains of central Oklahoma. The few Calf Creek artifacts that occur within the region are high in the landscape, along major interfluvial divides. The ephemeral nature of these sites and their position so high in the landscape suggest that Calf Creek bands used the interfluves as highways for travel between the Southern High Plains to the west and the Redbed Plains to the east. The use of these passages between the two regions, the large band territories indicated by Calf Creek lithic material use, and the character of their knapping techniques all form striking parallels to the Late Paleoindian cultures of the region millennia earlier
