This detailed description of the collection of Ernest J. Palmer of Webb City, Missouri is presented for the first time. The author assembles the artifacts as a number of functional groups, which are further sub-divided into appropriate categories. This material is then compared with that from known complexes in northeast Oklahoma, Kansas and eastern Missouri, notably Table Rock Reservoir, Pomme de Terre Reservoir and the upper James River.From this analysis it is concluded that the Palmer Collection represents material from (1)an early and a late nonceramic horizon showing affinities with the south, and (2) an early and a middle Woodland period related to complexes to the north and east, as well as (3)two Mississippian complexes associated early with the south and later with the north at a time when southwest and western prairie influences occurred
