This report concerns a human skeleton recovered from a house during excavations at 39HU7. The skeleton is that of a female, 25 to 35 years of age. Relevant osteometric data are presented in Table 9. Measurement techniques for the cranium are described by Bass (1964). Postcranial measurement defini tions may be found in Comas (1960:367) or Brothwell (1963:85). Stature was estimated using the regression formulae of Neumann and Waldman (1968) developed on Middle Mississippi Indians, and Trotter and Gleser (1952) developed on American Whites (Table 10). There is good agreement between the two sets of equations for the two bones util ized. A stature of just over 5 feet is indicated with a high degree of reliability. Two separate neural arches were ob served on the fourth and fifth lumbar
