The Naze site in southeastern Norlh Dakota contains a layer of Early Plains Woodland remains radiocarbon dated within the 550 to 410 B.C. time range. Excavation of a 30 m2 area of that layer encountered burned daub, burned earth, charred ost fragments, post molds, charcoal smears, and artifacts from a residential settlement. The posts are interpreted as having been the central supports for a house. Naze is the first Early Woodland site documented in Norlh Dakota
