Ascertaining that the « direct » methods of calculation of the erosional rate (volume evaluation of a sedimentary basin, mesurement of materials carried away by rivers) are not applicable, or with very difficulty, in the case of the french Alps, the author propounds an « indirect » method, locally better adjusted. The results of that method are about the same that those of the other ones, as for example in the Pô plain, and with the field mesures
