Space becomes territory when sense is given to it. Within the process of territorialisation, denomination plays an essential part, while the concept of representation allows an interpretation of the act of denomination. Taking Savoy as an example, the authors strive to show how tourist territories appear and are built in space through the denomination of places and things. The notions of "over-localisation" and "délocalisation" are shown to be fundamental to tourism; they allow a different understanding of the present alpine space
