Georges Depeyrot. Crise économique, formation des prix, et politique monétaire au troisième siècle après J.-C. En examinant des séries de prix (blé et âne) en Egypte ainsi que les monnaies et le stock monétaire à Rome et à Alexandrie, on constate que l'Empire romain a connu au troisième siècle deux sortes de systèmes monétaire. L'un, alexandrin privilégiait la valeur intrinsèque de la monnaie, l'autre, romain, privilégiait la relation unité de compte/monnaie physique, au détriment de la valeur intrinsèque. On s'aperçoit à travers cet exemple du troisième siècle, que la question des rythmes de la production monétaire intervient autant, ou peut-être davantage que la chute des alois et des poids dans la formation des prix
