Une Théorie générale de l'action est-elle possible? Voilà une question dont l'examen permettra de réfléchir sur l'état de l'élaboration théorique en sociologie qui voudrait éviter des positions extrêmes et qui se cherche dès lors une nouvelle voie notamment entre une sociologie compréhensive de type phénoménologique et une sociologie positiviste de type behavioriste. Pour des raisons évidentes, il ne sera pas possible de traiter le thème par rapport à l'ensemble des travaux disponibles le concernant. On pourra par contre prendre à témoin un auteur qui passe aujourd'hui pour le théoricien en sociologie. II s'agit de Talcott Parsons. Pourquoi Talcott Parsons
