Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are often seen as drivers of economic growth, yet their impact on workers, particularly women, remains uneven. This study examines women's employment conditions in Sri City SEZ, exploring their implications for empowerment and well-being. Using a mixed-methods approach, we conducted a structured quantitative survey alongside qualitative interviews to capture nuanced experiences. The survey, covering 434 women from Andhra Pradesh (76%) and Tamil Nadu (24%), assessed work nature, formality, and workplace conditions. Additionally, in-depth interviews with 20 men and 20 women provided comparative perspectives on workplace experiences and empowerment. Findings indicate that employment conditions in Sri City SEZ are notably better than in the informal sector, with improved workplace benefits and facilities. However, concerns persist regarding skill development, career progression, and structural barriers limiting women’s mobility in the workforce. The study highlights the need for targeted policy interventions to enhance training opportunities and create pathways for career advancement, ensuring that SEZs contribute meaningfully to women's long-term economic empowerment
