This paper aims to analyse the process of structural transformation in the state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) from the labour productivity (LP) perspective. The study mainly tries to analyse sectoral shifts in LP and employment elasticity during the last three decades from 1990-91 to 2019-20, the post economic reforms period. . The analysis also considers decadal break-up to see how the LP is behaving across the sectors and sub-sectors. The paper analyses the labour productivity and its trend along with sectoral labour productivity growth. Employment elasticity and decomposition of productivity into within and sectoral change component has also been analysed. It is found that there are noticeable differences in labour productivity with respect to ratio of the manufacturing to agriculture, industry to agriculture and services to agriculture in UP. Dedicated policy efforts are required to revive industrial sector in the state for speeding up the labour transformation from agriculture to non-agriculture sectors. For this, strategic investment in human resources to make them skilled is also needed to promote sustainable growth and to convert demographic opportunity into demographic dividend
