1. Two recent articles, [6] and [10], have applied the powerful technique of relational logic, made familiar to economists by Professor Arrow [1], to revealed preference theory, and Professor Hicks has abandoned indifference curves for this technique in his latest work on demand theory ([4], pp. 18-19). The present paper represents a further exercise in this field, with the purpose of investigating certain difficulties in' articles by Professors Houthakker [5] and Samuelson [8], [9], which appeared in Economica a few years ago.
