A NY symposium on progress in child welfare during the last decade would certainly be incomplete without consideration of the rapid strides made by the birth control movement between 1930 and the present. In this article we are concerned mainly with the progress of opinion in favor of birth control, with the growth of clinics, with recent changes in legislation, and with major shifts in emphasis and important social trends in the field of birth control in the last decade
