T HE attitude of the common man in the field of accident litigation is as varied as human beings are different. It is impossible within the scope of a short paper to give one's impressions, gained after almost thirty years in the preparation and trial of injured people's cases, of what the injured person thinks, what he wants, and what, in the last analysis, the lawyer who represents him thinks is best for him. I will therefore limit this paper to the history of one common man's accident, and give some general impressions in connection with that case
