RECENTLY a juvenile court judge published an article which he called Common Sense and Bad Boys. ~ In it he inveighs against the halftruths of social workers and probation officers who, according to him, hold that each offender should receive individual treatment based on his personal characteristics and not on his misconduct; that because each person is an individual and different from anyone else, the discipline imposed on one person should not be influenced by the discipline imposed on another; that correction should be the sole criterion of the discipline used. Having correctly identified these concepts as half-truths, Judge Perkins proceeds to dispose of them and to put forth with considerable conviction some half-truths of his own. These are that
