WHEN I had the pleasure of being in Philadelphia a few weeks ago a distinguished American lady who has interested herself particularly in the analysis of public opinion told me that in the course of taking a public opinion poll she had recently spoken to a farmer in Iowa. Among the questions which she asked the farmer was, What do you think of the problem of AngloAmerican relations? The farmer reflected for some time and then said, To tell you the truth, lady, until you came here I didn't know there was one
