The above quotation continues: ” ... er [der Dichter] schafft das Schöne, aber auch dieses ist vom Ganzen her gesehen sinnlos, ein nichtiges Spiel wie alles.” Rychner is aware of the paradoxicality of Benn’s position: “nicht an die Kunst zu glauben und dabei einige Gedichte hinzustellen, die in Klang und Rhythmus vollendet schön und unausschöpfbar an Gehalt sind ... “
