Although different facets of Caviedes' poetic works are concerned with religious and amorous themes, his most popular and perhaps his best works are found in the Diente del Parnaso, which is a collection of some fifty poems concerned with social satire. In this respect his works are much in the same vein as many of those of Don Francisco de Quevedo whom Caviedes admired and whose works show an influence on his own at times
