'These are typical titles of courses which one sees repeated in undergraduate Spanish programs. College Bulletins and Catalogues show an apparent weakness in their Spanish Department curricula in that very few colleges and universities surveyed include a course description especially designed to bridge the gap between language study and literature courses. This in no way should imply that literary criticism is not taught, but rather, that unlike English, French, German and other languages, Spanish has not formalized a much needed course at a crucial crossover point in the majors'
