Patterns of place and visual-spatial imagery usage in Del amor yotros demonios suggest that these elements exercise important controlling functions in the novel. Description of three specific loci in the work contribute to tone and mood, prefigure plot, mirror characters' physical or psychological states, and reinforce motifs in the narration. Within this multivalent spatial context, three similar visual-spatial images (one at each of the specific loci) reinforce the symbolic function of the places at which they appear and serve as ideographic isomorphs of the archetropic, or originating image of the work
