F IRST OF ALL I would like to thank all my AATSP colleagues once again for entrusting to me the presidency of our Association.* This is indeed the highest honor to which I could ever aspire. I want also to express my gratitude to all of you who have contributed to the success of this meeting. And many thanks to the people of Seattle for your warm hospitality. Most former presidents of AATSP have used Spanish in their presidential addresses. I will tell you why I could not speak Spanish. Once in Chile (this was my first trip to a Spanish-speaking country), I was enjoying a pleasant conversation with a group of Chilean acquaintances.
