This article proposes and verifies a new relational measure of world order that uniquely identifies countries' positions in the global network of economic international governmental organizations (IGOs). Using multidimensional scaling, the study shows that multiple distinct dimensions of the world order position can be identified reflecting core location, export market concentration, externality from the IGO networks, and regional interdependence. These four dimensions are significantly correlated with conventional measures of economic features of states. Panel regression is used to demonstrate that the multidimensional scaling of world order is useful in predicting social welfare performance, having its major effects indirectly by determining the economic resources of states
