A tanulmány azt vizsgálja, hogy a hátrányos helyzetű roma gyermekek társadalmi mobilitását segítő tanodaprogramok hogyan valósulnak meg egy zsugorodó város társadalmi viszonyaiban. A magyarországi munkával kapcsolatos kutatások részletesen foglalkoztak a bérmunkából tartósan kirekesztett társadalmi csoportok munkaerőpiaci helyzetével, azonban jóval kevesebb figyelmet szenteltek a bérmunkán túli munkaformák szerepének vizsgálatára.
