  • Frühklassische Testamentsauslegung im Spiegel von Phaedrus Fab. iv,5

    Andreas Herrmann•ARTICLE•Tijdschrift voor Rechtsgeschiedenis…•2025

In Phaedrus we find striking examples of law in literature. Not only does Phaedrus exhibit a propensity for juristic parlance, he shows a recurring interest in questions of law as well as an understanding of legal concepts. His Fab. iv ,5 in particular reflects topics which will have occupied early classical Roman jurists in their attempts to interpret testamentary dispositions. Read with a view to law as literature, Phaedrus’s narration draws at…

  • Individual-level loss aversion in riskless and risky choices

    Open Access•Simon Gächter, E Johnson et al.•ARTICLE•Theory and Decision•2022

Loss aversion can occur in riskless and risky choices. We present novel evidence on both in a non-student sample (660 randomly selected customers of a car manufacturer). We measure loss aversion in riskless choice in endowment effect experiments within and between subjects and find similar levels of average loss aversion in both. The subjects of the within study also participate in a simple lottery choice task which arguably measures loss aversio…

Open Access•Mira Parisek, Julika Lo et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2021

Background: Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (alloHSCT) is the only curative treatment modality for many patients affected by hematologic malignancies. However, it can cause debilitating long-term effects. Understanding the impact of alloHSCT on all aspects of the patients' life is required for optimal survivorship management. Aim: To explore in-depth HSCT-survivors' experiences and needs post-transplant. Partners were included …

  • Order in Product Customization Decisions

Jonathan Levav, Mark Heitmann et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Political Economy•2010•Cited by: 15•References: 4

Differentiated product models are predicated on the belief that a product's utility can be derived from the summation of utilities for its individual attributes. In one framed field experiment and two natural field experiments, we test this assumption by experimentally manipulating the order of attribute presentation in the product customization process of custom-made suits and automobiles. We find that order affects the design of a suit that peo…

  • The Social Influence of Brand Community

Open Access•René Algesheimer, Utpal M Dholakia et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Marketing•2005

The authors develop and estimate a conceptual model of how different aspects of customers’ relationships with the brand community influence their intentions and behaviors. The authors describe how identification with the brand community leads to positive consequences, such as greater community engagement, and negative consequences, such as normative community pressure and (ultimately) reactance. They examine the moderating effects of customers’ b…

  • Shopping for Identities

Andreas Herrmann, Anne Herrmann et al.•ARTICLE•Feminist Studies•2002

Consumer culture is ubiquitous; it has no certain historical origins and no clear social boundaries. In the United States, where consumer society was ostensibly invented as a way to wage the cold war, shopping is the number two leisure activity after watching television. Young Japanese women who arrive in the United States as exchange students list shopping as their number one hobby. Is shopping women's work or a form of leisure activity for the …

Andreas Herrmann, Anne Herrmann•ARTICLE•New German Critique•1986

Why, when telecommunications has largely replaced written correspondence and women are now respected for writing books rather than letters, do two major women writers return repeatedly to the form of the epistolary essay? Both Virginia Woolf, a British modernist, and Christa Wolf, a contemporary GDR writer, have adopted this form as a self-conscious rhetorical strategy for the critique of a dominant ideology.' Their essays not only problematize t…
