Between 1808 and 1862, officers primarily from the British navy liberated approximately 175,000 enslaved Africans from transatlantic slavers. Between 1808 and 1863 the British Royal Navy liberated an estimated 164,333 Africans from slave ships in the Atlantic. The largest contingent was the over 99,000 landed at Freetown, Sierra Leone, while smaller numbers were emancipated in courts at St. Helena, Havana, Rio de Janeiro, and Luanda.[2][1

This article highlights narratives of enslavement held in the Church Missionary Society and Methodist Missionary Society archives for the Sierra Leone, Yoruba, and Gambia missions in the nineteenth century. Obstacles to the use of the computer by both the student and the instructor are reviewed and a system to reduce these obstacles is presented.
