Genetically predicted associations with colonic polyps
Background The high incidence and multifactorial etiology of colonic polyps, involving genetic, environmental, lifestyle, and metabolic factors, warrant systematic investigation of genetically predicted associations. We employed Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate genetically predicted associations of genetically proxied exposures with colonic polyps. Methods Following STROBE-MR guidelines, we performed a two-sample MR analysis using publi…
A Mooc-based and high-fidelity surgical simulation-integrated clinical internship mode in optometry teaching for ophthalmology graduate students
BACKGROUND: Clinical medicine postgraduates are expected to attain competencies equivalent to senior resident physicians. However, ophthalmology graduate students often struggle to integrate optometry theory with clinical practice during rotations. To address this gap, we developed and evaluated a blended clinical internship model combining Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) and digital twin-supported high-fidelity surgical simulation (HFS) techn…
Teaching reform and innovation awareness as a mediator in Aigc adoption among vocational information technology teachers
Introduction Artificial intelligence-generated content (AIGC) is increasingly influencing educational practice, but its effective adoption in vocational education depends not only on teachers' perceptions of the technology itself but also on their awareness of teaching reform and pedagogical innovation. Methods Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), this study developed an extended model to examine how perceived usefulness (PU), percei…
A smile says it all
This study investigated intergenerational differences in the interpretation of smiley emoji in response to literal and sarcastic statements. Younger (aged 18-30) and older (over 60) adults evaluated each emoji in terms of perceived attitude, friendliness, politeness, and appropriateness across contexts. Significant intergenerational differences emerged for smiley emoji with complex cues, but not for simple ones. Specifically, older adults tended …

Depression and cognition mediated rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder to improve the activities of daily living in Parkinson’s disease patients
This study demonstrates that depression and cognition can work independently and together, and that reducing depressive symptoms or improving cognition can mediate the reduction of RBD to improve the ADL of PD patients. Notably, this mediating effect gradually intensifies as the duration of the disease progresses. These findings highlight that for PD patients, preventing emotional depression and cognitive decline in the early stage of the disease…
Educating future accountants
Education has been identified as foundational in championing climate change action. Consequently, increasing efforts have been made to incorporate climate change knowledge into the curricula of predominantly non-environmental science-oriented subjects. However, in accounting instruction, attempts to integrate climate change have been largely prescriptive. This empirical study contributes to the literature by proposing a cross-curricular, flipped …
Gender disparities in the association between atherogenic index of plasma and chronic kidney disease
This study investigates the relationship between the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurrence in the general population, with a focus on potential gender disparities. The study included 22,952 adults from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES). Various statistical models were employed to evaluate the association between AIP and CKD occurrence and explore gender-specific differences. Adju…

Is That a Genuine Smile? Emoji-Based Sarcasm Interpretation Across the Lifespan
Emoji appear to be an important cue to judge whether a statement is sarcastic in computer-mediated communication. In this study, we investigated whether the smiling emoji, an indicator of sarcastic intention in the Chinese culture, exerts an influence on sarcasm interpretation across the lifespan. Statements accompanied with or without a smiling emoji were compared in unambiguous (Experiment 1) and ambiguous (Experiment 2) contexts. The results o…
Evaluating a new obesity indicator for stroke risk prediction
Chinese rural residents exhibit higher levels of visceral obesity compared to residents in UK, leading to greater stroke susceptibility mediated by multimorbidity. These findings underscore the importance of comprehensive management of multimorbidity for stroke prevention. The TyG-BRI may serve as a promising predictor of ischemic stroke incidence among rural community residents
Judging emoji by occupation
The smiling emoji has been claimed to be a marker of sarcastic intention among young Chinese users in computer-mediated communication. However, it is not well understood whether people interpret the emoji differently based on the characteristics or traits of the sender, as conveyed by occupation stereotypes. We investigated the effect of sender occupation on emoji-based sarcasm interpretation in both unambiguous (Experiment 1) and ambiguous (Expe…
Scenario Expression Method for Regional Geological Structures
Knowing the GIS expression of geological phenomena is an important basis for the combination of geology and GIS. Regional geological structures include folds, faults, strata, rocks, and other typical geological phenomena and are the focus of geological GIS research. However, existing research on the GIS expression of regional geological structure focuses on the expression of the spatial and attribute characteristics of geological structures, and …
Psychometric Evaluation of the Spiritual Perspective Scale in Palliative Care Nurses in China
An investigation of the incidence of post-traumatic stress disorder, turnover intention and psychological resilience among medical staff in a public hospital in China during the outbreak of the omicro…
Post-traumatic stress disorder among Chinese medical personnel was associated with the marital status, childbirth, education level, turnover intention, and psychological resilience. Among these factors, psychological resilience might be exploited as a protective factor
Virtual Water Flow Pattern in the Yellow River Basin, China
Research on the Yellow River Basin's virtual water is not only beneficial for rational water resource regulation and allocation, but it is also a crucial means of relieving the pressures of a shortage of water resources. The water stress index and pull coefficient have been introduced to calculate the implied virtual water from intraregional and interregional trade in the Yellow River Basin on the basis of a multi-regional input-output model; a s…
G-STC-M Spatio-Temporal Analysis Method for Archaeological Sites
Based on the significant hotspots analysis method (Getis-Ord Gi* significance statistics), space-time cube model (STC) and the Mann–Kendall trend test method, this paper proposes a G-STC-M spatio-temporal analysis method based on Archaeological Sites. This method can integrate spatio-temporal data variable analysis and the space-time cube model to explore the spatio-temporal distribution of Archaeological Sites. The G-STC-M method was used to con…
Study on Feng Shui (Geomantic) Suitability Evaluation of Mausoleums in Nanjing City Based on GIS
Taking the mausoleums in the main urban area of Nanjing city as the study object, with the support of GIS technology, this paper extracts eight influencing factors (surface roughness, elevation, surface cutting depth, surface peaks, outfall, river system, slope, and aspect) corresponding to geomantic elements (“Long”, “Sha”, “Shui”, and “Xue”) in the geographical environments of mausoleums. The AHP is applied in the correlation weight method to c…
Health Conditions, Lifestyle Factors and Depression in Adults in Qingdao, China
Background: Depression is a common mental illness. Previous studies suggested that health conditions and lifestyle factors were associated with depression. However, only few studies have explored the risk factors of depression in a large representative sample of the general population in the world. Methods: A population-based cross-sectional survey was conducted in the 2006 survey and 2009 survey in Qingdao, China. The participants with insuffici…

Triglycerides and total cholesterol concentrations in association with IFG/IGT in Chinese adults in Qingdao, China
Evaluated TG in both gender and TC in men were independently associated with the present of the IFG/IGT, yet, could not be an authentic predictors of IFG/IGT in both men and women in current Chinese population
