This work discusses a range of literary scenes framed by Primo Levi's narrative.The scenes all include child characters and/or narrators placed in contexts of flight, compulsory displacement and refuge, where their lives are often endangered.We are interested in how the narratives elicit specific gazes and forms of apprehension, as well as in how, in the process, they introduce ethical demands and add to the construction of new modes of attention.As we consider the power of literature to sensitively address the stories of vulnerable children, we underscore the narrative procedures which shed light on these mobile, imperiled little lives.Scene after scene, we turn to the ways in which each text attempts to "enter the viewpoint of a way of existing, not only to see as it sees, but to make it exist more, to amplify its dimensions, or to make it exist differently
